Sparring Class
Sparring class is training for the Mixed martial arts group. Completely optional (and free), sparring is really beneficial to understanding the techniques that are taught in the curriculum classes. Students have the opportunity to test techniques with a live partner giving them a much deeper understanding of how these movements would work in the real world. With the live nature of this practice, it is by invitation only. Once a student has proven they have the control to be a safe, they are welcome to join.
The difference between a sparring match and a fight is the ultimate goal of sparring is to learn, not to win. Safety of you, and your sparring partner(s) is paramount - ALWAYS.
Sparring is a skill like anything else. To become proficient in sparring you need to practice regularly in a controlled setting. Sparring can range from only allowing one punch and one block, all the way up to a free sparring match. Allowing for this variance in complexity and intensity allows students to become more comfortable and grow in their abilities to respond effectively to an attack - one of the main goals of a martial art!
